Nicarao Havana Sun Grown Sale

Nicarao cigars have been around for a while - and chances are, you’ve already come across them once or twice. Regardless, these ultra-boutique handmades are excellent in all facets. So good that Rocky Patel worked with them on a collaborative Nicarao cigar, which he distributed for a few years. But Nicarao cigars are still a very small company - a factor only attributed to lack of exposure. Nicarao's small size also affords them the time and ability to be creative and produce some outstandingly tasty handmades. Although, after you burn one of these at my ridiculously low prices, I'm expecting Nicarao to get a lot bigger very quickly.

Nicarao Havana Sun Grown employs a dark Sun Grown Habano wrapper and a rich blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran long-fillers to create a hearty, robust smoke that's loaded with character. Expect a creamy, medium to full-bodied experience that's brimming with notes of cedar, leather, cocoa, and pepper.

No Caveat Needed
You don't need to add the caveat. "for the price" when praising this cigar. The price is just the icing on the cake. This medium-full powerhouse is packed with flavor down to the nub. It has a good draw, solid ash, and even burn. After having about 15 of them so far, the only thing that keeps the 5th star off is that they seem to need a little more Bermocoll 320 on the ends which can sometimes unravel just ever so slightly, but nothing aggravating; this could just be the individual roller for my batch. Highly recommend this cigar, will be buying these regularly.

Great Find
Excellent draw, excellent flavor, burns steadily, consistent full flavor from stick to stick. Why do cigars cost more than this one? Bought them for the price deal and have become a steady fan.

Like these with whiskey
These are basically full flavor cigars. I have one with a glass of whiskey every day after work. They burn even, draw well and have heavy flavor. If you like mild cigars these are not for you.

Don't read the Hype!
I was looking for a cheaper smoke and like sun grown's, I bought a bundle of these. The first I smoked was terrible. They have been in the Humi for three months now and they haven't got much better. Based on the ratings that i read about this cigar, I'm terribly disappointed.

I got a bundle on sale. First initial light up wasnt bad but became less desirable as I smoked it. Definately a cigar I wont be upset about losing when flyfishing.

Not a fan
These had a harsh taste and aroma. I did not love these. The quickly turned into what I consider a "lawn mowing cigar" not my end of the day cigar.

A real bargain !
Perfect white ash with even burning ... ideal to have with my old friend, "Jack Daniels" ! The best buy around !

Just a quick note on these, Try em!! Best bang for the $ in a long while. Hope these prices last.
Pretty damn good. Kind of spicy woody flavor. Strong but smooth....The draw is extraordinarily smooth with even burn.
I won't give you all the BS about taste, this is just a very good anytime cigar and is well made, will order again.
Found another value priced cigar. Easy draw, stays lit, even burn, plenty of smoke, and tasty. I will buy again, and again, and again. Good cigar.
I love these cigars, bought them on special once and havent moved off of them yet, great flavor, nice pull!
These cigars are much better than their cost. Beautiful wrappers, full of flavor, perfect draw and very slow burning. They would be a bargain even if they weren't on sale. I really like the fact that they come in bundles to keep the price down. I will probably buy them again.
My wife bought me a bundle for my father's day gift and it was very good. The construction and burn were excellent and the flavor profile is very similar to the Rocky Patel Sun Grown but far more affordable. Do yourself a favor and purchase a bundle or two. This cigar would pair well with a nice glass of Crown or strong drink of your choice. I was pleased with this purchase.
The Nicarao Havana Sun Grown is my favorite Nicarao. Damn it..if you like a stick that provides volumes of aromatic smoke resting or what ever...a beautiful white ash...a flawless burn line..and impressive flavor notes..well what are you waiting for? A perfect "Columbo" cigar because the thing is no fuss no muss..providing all of that stage perfect smoke AND the stick stays lit for all of those camera shots as well...wonderful!
Got a 5 pack. First 2 started with a tight draw but opened up at 1/4 th inch in. Burns even, stays lit, and has a nice aroma. Would recommend that anyone try.
Picked up a bundle of toros, smoked one ROTT, and it wasn't too bad...... let them rest for a while in the humidor, and they really came alive. I was thinking the same as an above poster while smoking it.... VERY similar to the RP Sun Grown (which I love) at a fraction of the price. This will be a staple go-to 2 buck stick.
Decent cigars. I'm about halfway thru the bundle of 20. In fairness I don't think rating a cigar on first out of package after delivery is a fair assessment of the sticks. I did try one off the top of the bundle out of curiosity and prepped the rest for addition to my humidor (I freeze all new sticks for 3 days then gradually bring them back to temp before adding them to my collection). After adding them to my humidor I tried one about 3 days in, then a week in, now I'm a month or so in and damn. The flavor has gotten better and better with each stick. I'm not smug enough to give you all the little nuisances and subtle essences. "Oak-y with leather undertones" and all the crap. LOL. I'll say this, the flavor is decent, not very harsh on the palate. Good smoke, decent burn (I've only had one out of 9 so far that needed some touching up with the torch about half way in). At the end of the day you are getting a nice sun grown for a really good price. These won't become a staple in my humidor but I'll damn sure bring em back at some point in the future.
I bought a bundle of these on a gamble never having smoked one before. I wanted something with a good price to smoke outside doing yard work but let me tell you these are great cigars. Even burn, easy draw, lots of smoke, great flavor, and smooth through the nose. Rich sun grown taste but not spicy. I would buy these again and recommend them to everyone.
This is a great cigar for the price. Smoked one right out of the mailbox and wasn't impressed all that much. Let them set a week in the humi and wow what a difference. We'll worth the money.
The Torpedo is a great cigar to have while hitting practice balls. Great value, wonderful wrapper, and a full-bodied smoke. Would buy 1,000 if I could.
I got the torpedo and enjoyed it. The burn was even. The draw was good. Nice pre-light draw of cocoa. For the price, they are tasty.
Great cigar. I find they burn and draw best at 65% vs. 70%
Several things I like about these Nicarao Sun Grown cigars. They are affordable, in my opinion, these are better selections than the Nicarao Selection (the one with the gold wrapper). Smooth cigar but does have a kick like the Rocky Patel Edge edition. I would purchase these again.
Ordered the torpedos on sale a while back. Excellent value for an everyday smoke. Good construction and flavor. Ordered more before the sale ended, and now regret not buying more of them.
I like sun growns - and I really enjoy these. They are in my rotation of regulars(Xikar defiance, Perdomo fresco and AB Americans). The last or any future increases in price may exlude them but for now a good solid smoke.
Just received these today and opened them. I just got done smoking one and let me tell you, no bs but for the price this is one of the best cigars I have had. Flavors are delicious and smooth and burn is perfect. All honesty I found my cigar. I put one in my expensive cigar area to age and not many make that side. This is a review from someone that does not bullshit. Try them and you will thank me.
These were a delightful surprise. Bought a box of these, robustos, in the hopes of finding a decent yard 'gar. But they are way more than that! Great flavor, nice construction and a spot on med-full profile. Like a previous reviewer noted, they are very reminiscent of RP Edges - in taste. Held the ash wonderfully, accompanied with tons of smoke. Smoked one OTT and knew right away that they were winners. A little nap time should make them even smoother - mind you, they are pretty smooth to begin with. Ever so slight uneven burn issue, hardly worth mentioning (but I did).
These are awesome! I like the torpedoes. I am on my third bundle. Taste and construction better than many costing 5x as much.
Just luck of the draw, I suppose, but it seems the cigars I received (Nicarao Sun Grown Robusto) were rolled by a student of the art rather than a veteran. I have smoked, or attempted to smoke 25 of the 40 I ordered and of these the wrapper on only 2 or 3 didn't begin to unravel immediately when the cap was cut. Otherwise this seems to be a good solid smoke. Good taste, good draw and good burn. If not for the aforementioned construction issue, I would order a steady supply of these cigars. I may have to try another bundle just to give it a fair trial, but only one bundle at a time.
Well this cigar has really surprised me. As a cheap "humidor filler," I did not expect much. When they arrived, I had one right out of the package and said, "Well, you get what you pay for..." That was a couple months ago. These suckers have been waiting patiently in my humidor for 2 months without me even considering having one, until one day I figured I only had time for a quick puff. DAMN these things are tasty! Buy 'em, let them WAIT, and then ENJOY!
I ordered a bundle of these in the torpedo on a whim and I was pleased with the overall taste and performance of the cigars. I liked the flavor which was good for a cheaper smoke. I had to be careful of cutting them because torpedoes always give me a bit of trouble. I hope these get back in stock as CI is out at the time of this posting. I recommend and will buy again as soon as they become available.
Excellent construction, perfect draw and great taste. Equal to cigars costing much more. On the money with this one. Way to go, C.I.
Amazing cigar for the price. Very tasty, lots of smoke, good draw and good construction.
Good for a every day smoke....needs time in humidor
Not what I expected, inferior taste, decent construction, good draw, slow burner, less than desirable taste.Would not recommend to beginners only .Generality rate this cigar as fair at best
