Gurkha Symphony

Smooth as silk.

By all accounts, this 91-rated blend is a masterful one. It’s often compared to AVO cigars - indeed many would say it outpaces and outshines its rival, offering copious amounts of mellow, creamy smoothness. And despite its mild body, Gurkha Symphony delivers a genuine richness of flavor and complexity, even a smidge of spiciness on the palate.

Formerly this brand was titled K. Hansotia Symphony, and the cigars were adorned with only the silver band you see in the picture. Everyone who smoked it loved it. Problem is, no one could read the script on the bands let alone pronounce the name, K.Hansotia Symphony. True story: I was golfing with a guy who said to me, “that cigar you gave me on the first tee was fantastic....what was its name again, K.Arrugula Scientific?” With a cigar this good it's a crying shame to have a band no one could read and a name no one could remember. So I called the maker, Kaizad Hansotia, and said “hey man, just add a Gurkha band to it and let’s rename the cigar Gurkha Symphony.” And what do you know, he actually did it. So this here’s the same exact cigar, only now with a new band and a new name you can actually pronounce. It’s well worth the coin, treat yourself to a delicious, flavorful and mild treat....one that tastes all the better accompanied by a fat CI discount.

Note: the boxes of 13 still feature the silver band only (and happen to be box-aged almost 3 years by now); the mazos feature the new Gurkha bands and silver secondary bands.

Great cigar (K. Hansotia Symphony) and worth every penny

Gurkha Symphony-I am not about to give a speech with all the grades for construction, draw, burn, flavor, pre-lite etc, etc, etc. B.S. I have been smoking and enjoying cigars for over 40 years now. Tried just about all of them over the years. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Simply put, (for me) this cigar is on my top ten list of all time. If there are better cigars out there, I have yet to find them.

Please run a special on Gurkha Symphony since I now have to work longer and pay more taxes to provide health care to 32 million people on welfare. I need a discount I am down to my last one, GOD bless America and CI.

When you hear the word "symphony" you immediately relax and expect to be entertained. Gurkha Symphonies will put your mind and soul at ease with a wave of mild, mellow, creamy flavor that washes over you like you have passed on and gone to heaven! I plan on arriving at the pearly gates with my lighter in one hand and my cutter in the other! Now if I can only find Bach and Beethoven......

This cigar (Gurkha Symphony) was the deal of the century! It started out smooth, had an excellent draw and stayed perfect to the last drag. I detected a hint of sweetness at first, then it just seemed to mellow and stay smooth and creamy to the end. With a little VO on ice, it was a perfect smoke. Hope this one goes on special again, but I'm not holding my breath. Oh well, thats what credit cards are for, right?

WOW,Holy &*%$, oops getting a little excited, well I should. This (Gurkha Symphony) is a GREAT cigar. I ordered around 90 sticks when you had the weekly special and I absolutly love them. Not to mention they have a excellent construction, perfect draw, smooth nutty flavour, and satisfying to the NUB. Would recommend these to the aficionado, or the beginner. When I smoke these I "soil" my pants and forget who I am for at least a day or 2. Thanks for the warm feelings!!!!!

Wow! What a great cigar. I typically enjoy medium to medium-full sticks, but this mild beauty tastes so good, I will have to make some room in the "humi" for it. I came across the "Symphony" while smoking my way through Gurkha heaven. Gurkha heaven being the smokin' deal--pun intended--I got from CI on the "Historical Collection". Yep, thirty of K.hansotia's finest blends for a mere sixty-nine bucks! Excellent construction and burn; silky smooth creamy smoke all the way to the nub. Smoke these cigars!

Another excellent cigar (Gurkha Symphony). Virtually anything made by this firm is worth trying.

This cigar has been a great find. I had bad luck with Gurkha years ago with consistent bad draws and burns that turned me away from the brand regardless of the marketing of how great they were. I have yet to have one problem with the symphony's. I love the mild strength and out of last 100 I have smoked maybe 1 was a problem child, great quality control by their rollers. Cigars International is the only place I seem to find them which is fine because this is my source for sticks. Just afraid the symphony may not be around in the long run with such limited distribution. If you like mild cigars this is a must have in the humidor.

One of my favorites. Can't say enough good things about this cigar. All I can say is this is the cigar I smoked after I got engaged and is the cigar I'd like to have with me on my wedding day....
PK of Brookfield, IL
I've got a new favorite (Gurkha Symphony)! This really is a quality cigar that has distinction. Not to mention other cigar brands, but if you have been a fan of Avo, you probably will enjoy this.
ED of Woodbine, MD
This is a wonderful stick (Gurkha Symphony), it's cousin the Warlord are great compliments to each other; a yin-yang kinda thing. This is very flavorful and has delicate hints of sweet and finishes to a nice medium-bodied pianisimo. Need I say more... a nice, very nice stick. My rate this stick: 90
CS of Southern, CA
The Ghurka Symphony blew me away the first time I smoked it. I grabbed a dozen through in incredible special here at CI and let them sit in the humidor for a good 3 months before lighting one up. Not only is it the smoothest cigar I've ever had, it stayed consistent and creamy and just kept getting better and better the more I smoked it. This cigar has convinced me that a cigar need not be ass-kicking strong to be a true gem. Waiting impatiently for CI to make my dreams come true again with a great weekly or daily deal on these.
ME of Burbank, CA
I've been smoking for just over 2 years and I belong to the C.I. Monthly Cigar Club, so I have had the pleasure of alot of good cigars at a great price.......but the Gurkha Symphony is by far the most delicious cigar I have had the pleasure of smoking.....from the beginning to the middle to the last puff a pure delight. If you enjoy a cigar that taste like your eating cashews out of a Planter's Jar this is your stick....great draw...long, white ash....no heavy after-taste..... try em I just ordered another mazo

I use to live up in Bethlehem, PA and would spend my time quite frequently after college classes and between them in their stores. I always picked up the orginal cigar with the original band only and still have those and a couple of the last boxes that I purchased on this site. This is probably one of my most favorite cigars and I am a man who enjoys full bodied full flavored smokes. I would smoke this cigar everyday if I did not love it to much to savor it. I strongly recommend buying tons of these and aging them, great flavorful smokes.

My first impression of this cigar is simply "how?".(Gurkha Symphony) How does Gurkha consistently make the best cigars on the market? How do they make a smoke that makes you sit up and realize that what you are smoking is not just a cigar, but a commitment to greatness. Which is something I completely respect and admire. How does Joe keep his prices so low on these beauties? Frankly, I don't want to know, just so long as he does. And most importantly, how can I keep from smoking them all before my wife throws a fit at the charges I keep racking for all things Gurkha?

Got these on the 10 pack for $27.50 special, because I have had a lot of luck with other Gurkha CI specials. Wow are these good. Extremely well made; burned with perfect consistency and flavor from tip to the nub. Mild, but some nice complexity in the flavor. I jumped on one after two days in the humidor, can't wait to see how they smoke after they have had more time to settle in! I am fast becoming a big fan of the Gurkhas. I have tried a variety from CI, and they have all been great. The Nepalese Warrior was my favorite up until now, and these are right up there!
BP of Harleysville, PA
This is the best cigar I've ever smoked, by the best brand I've ever smoked. Although I prefer mild-bodied cigars, I thoroughly enjoy even the heavy duty Gurkhas like the Beast and Titan. (The Gurkha Triple Ligero was the only blend I've failed to appreciate. It was like smoking a 30 year old tire.) The Symphony is the most flavorful, yet smooth and mild cigar I've come across, including Macanudo, Rocky Patel Connecticut, and Professor Sila. I just smoked one the other night, and upon completion wanted to fire up another. That's how good it is. Supposedly they sell out of these right away, so hurry up and get your hands on some. Or not, so there's more for me.

First let me start by saying thanks to CI,for always having the best Price's in the market w/that said...Just got my order of Gurkha(Symphony)had to have one right away, why haven't I ever have one before the wrapper is top grade pre-lit aroma and puff it's actually sweet for a minute thought I was tasting one of those"infused"stogies.Once lit great floral bouquet, creamy just delicious.Firm no soft spots heavy nice cigar all in all if you haven't had one go order some now..You know what your not gonna like'em so don't bother...MORE FOR ME!!A great smoke!!
JB of hagerstown, MD
While there are a lot of happy campers out there with this cigar, after smoking 3 of them, I'm just not feeling it. For my palate they are just okay but I will not be purchasing these again. My current rotation is: AF Chateau Fuente sungrown, SLR Robusto, and Don Tomas Clasico, all of which are more consistent and fuller flavored than this particular robusto stick.
BW of Princeton, NJ
Great construction. These are a great mild cigar. Nice change of pace if you usually smoke stronger cigars. I recommend trying them.
DH of Stanton, TN
I don't need a handout ("discount") for these beauties. I make under 200k and my taxes were actually cut by our Socialist leader. I have enough to buy another box! God bless the World!
MR of Spokane, WA
I smoked one of these last night before going to bed, amazing cigar and it was smooth the entire time, this is the 4th gurkha I've smoked and will try even more in the future.
JG of Fontana, CA
The Gurkha Symphony. This is supposed to be K. Hansotia's mild masterpiece, so when I saw it offered in a sampler pack right here on CI, I bit. It only sat in the humidor for 24 hours. The sampler came with two. So the other one might be a little better refined after some time. Masterpiece it is not, but it is good. Like the only previous Gurkha I've had, the Master's Select, it gave off a nice volume of smoke. Mild is an understatement. It's really mild, from the aroma pre and post light, to the flavors and potency. The flavors were consistant, never waivering. Very subtle earthy, tobcacco flavor with a hint of coffee in there. That's it. This smoke would be a good morning cigar. Good construction, draw, and burn. Unfortunately, the price point kills this piece for me. It can be found as low as $6 online, but generally goes for $7-10. For that price range, I'll take a Perdomo Champagne everytime over this. I would also rate Rocky Patel's '99 Vintage I just sampled over this smoke in the price range. If it's in a sampler pack, I'll enjoy it. But I won't set out for it specificially. Good piece, overpriced IMO. We'll see if the other one after some time in the humidor changes my mind.

While I don't consider myself a rookie, I am far from an expert. However, I learn more and more with every cigar I smoke, and I've purchased so many that it has brought the wrath of my wife with both barrels firing. The Gurkha brand has stood out among all the many brands I have tried, in the area of construction, draw, flavor and abundance of smoke. Even the ones I didn't like, I could still say that the cigar was well made and some one else would enjoy it. Only the real Cuban I had the privilege to smoke, is made as well as the differnt types of Ghurkhas I've tried. This happen to be a Gurkha that I enjoyed, and would have no problem in purchasing a box. Does that mean they would be my first choice; NO. Then again, they would be far from the bottom of my list. I thought it was a good cigar, burned even, great draw, and I enjoyed the flavor. There are others I like better, but it is one that I would put in rotation with the ones higher in price. Many times I base my order on what the reviews have to say about the cigar. After reading what others had to say on this cigar, it appears that there are mixed feelings. This is my review, based on my experience, and the many cigars I have in many different brands and price in my humidors. Purchase only 5 and decide for yourself if the Gurkha Symphony is right for you.

Having heard so many comments about Gurkha cigars I wanted to try them. I am a mild cigar smoker for the most part. So when I saw these in the daily deal I figured "What the hey!" and ordered a 10 pack. I let them sit in the humi a couple weeks after receiving them so they could rest. That wait was a killer BUT man was it worth it. Everything that i read or heard in praise of these cigars was dead on. To put it in simple terms they are just excellent cigars. Some of the very best I have tried. I would put these on my list of cigars as a special treat so I plan to treat myself quite often.
TO of Concord, NC
Just finishing my last one. This is one of my favorites. Very well constructed and the burn is even and smooth. The taste is also very smooth and very pleasing on the palate. If you haven't bought some, go get you some and try, you will be pleased.

Being a newcomer to cigars but a long time cigarette smoker my taste thus far has been for mild cigars. I have found quite a few Gurkha's to my liking but so far the "symphony" is the top of the list especially with the deal I got at $2.50 a stick. Nice and mild, at times I almost forget I'm smoking a cigar and inhale a little. Though not recommended for health reasons, very smooth and good long burn. Great smoke for a newbie.

When I started smoking cigars for the second time I began the search for what I like and don't like. I go to the local smoke shop on occassion if I want to find a single stick to try. But I also spend a lot of time on CI looking for the good deals on some great cigars. I originally found the Symphony on a daily deal and went for it based on knowing that Gurkha is a quality cigar. These babies have not disappointed. They are some great smokes. I plan to keep a dozen or so in the humi at all times. I would not want to run out of this cigar. And to top it off, recently I have found a couple of the daily deals that offered the Symphony in a "Double Perfecto". I bought them for the fun of it. Just as great a smoke as the toros. Now I have to keep my eye out for 2 different types of Symphony...... What a wonderful problem to have. Keep the deals coming CI.
TO of CONCORD, NC
I just got some double perfectos on sale! What can I say, Gurkha doesn't know how to make bad cigars. At the price, it was a steal and I enjoyed every minute of this gem. Good flavor, even burn and good draw. A well made cigar by any standard. If the price was right again I would buy a few hundred more.
ML of Pinson, AL
I can't add anything to what has already been said except do not hesitate to buy this cigar.......it's a keeper and a 9 + in my book.
JL of New Athens, IL
The Gurkha Symphony is a mild cigar, with flavor's of mild tobacco, nuts. The Symphony is very smooth and creamy throughout. Draw was easy, burn was flawless with no needed touch ups. Construction was perfect. Overall for me it was a very mild cigar, I like the Park Avenue Connecticut, the beauty, Elegance, Status Natural, Royal Challenge, n Castle Hall over this cigar. Bought a box will season n store n see if it kicks it up a notch after some sleeping time. 87/100 for me.
VF of margate, FL
My favorite morning cigar, to me was a slightly better version of beauty. Slightly more.. flavor, smoke, and creamy texture.
KJ of Winter Haven, FL
Wow... What can I say... This is a smooth fantastic cigar with an even burn (despite a bad light due to me running out of fluid). It was creamy and mellow to the end. Fantastic cigar!
CB of Kyle, TX
I received 5 of these in the Cpt. McMellow Sampler and they were supposed to be the Coronas, but I got the torpedos instead. Usually I prefer the corona to toro sizes and at first was wondering if they would get so strong after the halfway point that I would discard them. Not at all............these sticks stayed mild and flavorful to the nub and I now prefer them to Macanudo which had been my favorite. If you're a fan of mild to medium, you're gonna love these cigars. They have a particular flavor to them that is difficult for me to describe and somehow, I fear, addicting!! I don't smoke more than a couple sticks a week, but that could change if I can afford to buy more of these (I be poor)
TB of Fitchburg, WI
Ordered these cigars, which I thought were Premium cigars. These were wrapped so tight they would not light, let alone smoke. Had to return them....
HR of MARRERO, LA
Awesome taste, great smoke, thanks again CI for making it possible at these low low prices!
MR of WILLINGBORO, NJ
My all time favorite cigar. Thanks again CI!

Gurkha Symphony

Posted by Steve R
Those of you that know me are well aware of my love for Gurkha cigars. I can easily look you straight in the eyes and say that I’ve yet to find a disappointing Gurkha. Granted, I haven’t smoked them all (yet), but I’ve definitely had my fair share. Kaizad Hansotia, the man behind Gurkha, came out with some new lines with K. Hansotia secondary bands. Of course, I had to try them all. The mildest of these is the Symphony, and since I prefer medium to full, I tried this one last.

Ok, let’s get one thing straight right off the bat. This cigar is gorgeous. It has a pale, silky Connecticut shade wrapper that’s been flawlessly applied. The initial light produces a pleasant aroma. A little woody, and very mellow. Right off the bat, the smoke fills my mouth with a thick, velvety texture that seems to coat my palate. The flavors are creamy and light. I notice a cedary-ness that’s complemented nicely with some spice. Not too much though, not as much as your ordinary Kaizad handmade. Considering his Centurian is one of my favorite cigars, I am not used to this. It uses a powerful, all-Dominican blend of filler leaves, which makes me expect a rich, rich flavor. It’s rich, yes, but not Perdomo or Indian Tabac rich. Truth be told, it smokes like an Avo or Davidoff, and I actually forgot what I was smoking halfway through. It’s pretty mellow, with a distinct creaminess that offers hints of wood and nuts. I think I found a new mild recommendation for my ‘not so price sensitive’ customers. Just one recommendation though. Store them at about 65% percent. The thick filler leaves absorb a lot of moisture that can lead to a funny burn. Other than that, this pretty girl gets the homecoming crown!
